Town of Owego (WBNG Binghamton) Three local fire departments and two schools teamed up to play a friendly game of basketball against the Harlem Superstars at the Owego Free Academy, all for a good cause.
Owego, Apalachin and Candor fire departments along with Candor High School and Owego Free Academy took on the traveling comedy basketball team to raise money for two charities.
The proceeds helped out Owego Apalachin Dollars for Scholars -- an organization set to help those who graduate high school with their future -- and Candor Food Pantry, which feeds more than 150 people a week.
The event brought together these communities for a great cause and "provided a time for families to bond," said Andy Buchsbaum, athletic director of Owego Free Academy.
"You're always thinking of things to do with your kids," said Buchsbaum, "Think of fun things to do on the week nights that are safe and family friendly and it's great to just have everyone here."
The Harlem Superstars are a comedic act that are also a motivational group specifically focused on raising money to encourage children for a bright future.
