Conklin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Conklin woman is arrested for driving while intoxicated after a head-on crash.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office says Juliana Porter, 21, was driving on the wrong side of the road toward oncoming traffic. Porter was arrested Wednesday.
The Sheriff's Office says Porter was driving a 2009 Chevrolet headed west on Carlin Road near Karic Drive, although she was driving on the wrong side of the road toward oncoming traffic.
A second vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet, driven by Cherie Duke, was also driving on Carlin Road heading east. When she realized Porter was driving in her lane, Duke tried to swerve to her left to avoid Porter's vehicle. At the same time, Porter also swerved and the two vehicles collided.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Porter was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors: Driving while intoxicated and driving with 0.08 of one percent or more of alcohol. She was also ticketed for moved from lane unsafely, a violation.
Porter was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Conklin Court on a later date.
