Town of Chenango, NY(WBNG Binghamton) The Southern Tier comes out to support local veterans.

McGirk's Irish Pub on Sunday held their second annual Veterans Fundraiser.

The event included a spaghetti dinner, raffles and music from the Broome County Pipes and Drums.

There was also a car show thanks to the Classic Corvette Club.

The proceeds from the entrance fee and raffles, plus 30 percent of the sales at the bar, were donated to the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group.

"The money goes to help returning veterans, either from overseas or that are still in the area. It helps them with housing, tuition, kind of acclimating themselves back into the regular life. It goes 100 percent toward that," said McGirk's owner Tim Ward.

Last year, McGirk's raised $6,000.

Early totals for this year look closer to $12,000 to $15,000, Ward said.

Ward says they plan to continue this event well into the future.
