Binghamton, NY ( WBNG Binghamton) The cold didn't stop people in Binghamton from enjoying the 24th annual Boscov's Holiday Parade on Saturday.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of fellow community members was the best part for some, as the parade kicked of Saturday afternoon.

"Just to see the kids and the crowd," Kelly Buckland said. "I'm really surprised how many people come out and just enjoy it."

Saturday marked year 25 for the parade. Many people in the crowd have not missed a single one, taking the time to enjoy family.

"We love it. We don't get much time together," Katie Brandow said.
"We all work so much, so it's nice to have a Saturday to come out and just have some fun."

Among the diehards were some newcomers this year. Carolyn Raychawdhuri and her daughter watched the parade for the first time. They have only lived in Binghamton for five years, coming to America from England.

"We don't see parades so often and it's a lovely American tradition," Raychawdhuri said. "It's a lot of fun. It's really nice."

The joyful crowd and grinning children are what organizers say is the most rewarding every year.

"The kids of course are the best part, I think," Brenda Bennett said. "It's nice to have a lot of people downtown."

Some kids had a favorite parade highlight to look forward to.

"When the cars come by because I really like them," said 9-year-old Connor Hatch. "They're pretty cool and you never know what you're going to see."

Boscov's department store takes on the challenge of putting the parade together every year. They said about 40 groups come out to be a part of it every November.

While watching the parade march down Court Street, many stuck close to family. Saturday was a time for celebrating the holidays, the community, and one another.
