Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One World War II Veteran is finally handed medals he earned nearly 70 years ago.

92-year-old Ernest Love of Endicott served for the U.S. Army during World War II.

Love left for the military at the age of 19 and served for four years as a staff sergeant.

During his time Mr. Love earned eight medals. He was also presented with the Silver Star which is the third highest military combat decoration.

After his time serving our country, Love came home and worked at IBM for 30 years.

"I'm proud of it but I don't think the country today is the same one I fought for in those days. It's not the same country," Love said.

Now retired, Love spends his time at the En-Joie Golf Course. He says the medals aren't important to him, but his family wants them as a way to remember his service.
