(WBNG Binghamton) According to a news release issued Tuesday, the Broome County Department of Public Works Engineering Division will conduct a Public Information open house for the purpose of discussing potential alternative methods of construction for the rehabilitation of the Hooper Road Bridge on CR 33 – Hooper Road over New York State Route 17C.
The open house meeting will be held starting at 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Town of Union Administration Building 3111 East Main Street in Endwell.
The above referenced project consists of the rehabilitation of the Hooper Road Bridge over New York State Route 17C (BIN 3358710). The purpose of the open house meeting is to educate the public about a variety of construction options that are under investigation and their impact on the traveling public; in order to solicit input and feedback at this early stage in the design process.
The project is being progressed as Project Identification Number (PIN) 9753.69, by Broome County, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). At this time, the project is in the engineering study phase. Representatives from Broome County, NYSDOT, and the local design consultant McFarland-Johnson, Inc. will be available at the meeting to answer questions from interested parties and to obtain input for further design work. It is anticipated that the project will be bid early spring 2014, for construction during summer 2014, and anticipated to be completed late fall 2014.
