September 6, 2010 Updated Sep 6, 2010 at 9:26 AM EST

The 91st annual Greene Labor Day Picnic splashed off this morning with hose fights in the center of town.

This competition brings out teams from all parts of the community that will square off to see which team's best.

Two teams at a time spray water at this ball to see who can get the ball all the way to the opponents side of the street.

The Greene fire department sees this long standing tradition as a way to give to the community who supports them.

"These people support us. They pay our bills so we can have the equipment and the gear and everything to do our job. So it's very important for us to come out and do public relations."said Dan Montgomery Chief- Greene Fire Dept

Winners will be crowned in both men's a ladies divisions. The teams battle each other in a best two out of three matches format until one team is left standing.
