Hurricane Sandy: Cuomo Lifts Water Regulations to Increase Donations

November 4, 2012 Updated Nov 5, 2012 at 11:28 AM EST

(WBNG Binghamton) Governor Andrew Cuomo temporarily waived regulations for water distribution to New Yorkers hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.

Cuomo issued an Executive Order to suspend and modify Department of Health regulations for bottled or bulk water products.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation issued individual waivers for container deposit requirements for water donated by manufacturers.

The Anheuser-Busch company has packed thousands of cases of canned drinking water to donate to suffering communities.

In addition to the Anheuser-Busch company, Wal-Mart also donated water to those struggling after Hurricane Sandy.

Redemption Centers need to be aware that there will be many bottles and cans that will not have paid deposits and should not be returned for redemption.
