Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local flying club ignites children's imaginations with planes and flight at their first Model Aviation Day.

The Binghamton Aeros club held the first Model Aviation Day Saturday at the Discovery Center in Binghamton.

Children of all ages lined up to watch model airplanes flip and twirl through the air.

A wide variety of model airplanes were on display as well as a flight simulator.

A member of the club, Patricia Jenson, says they hope this event will help spark new members.

"We want very much for the hobby to continue and to get the young people interested in it so that they can continue to fly," Jenson said. "It's a great hobby. It's a lot of fun, it's great camaraderie."

The club wants to make the model aviation day an annual event.
