Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An inmate at the Broome County Sheriff's Correctional Facility is charged with assault after deputies say he punched an officer.
On Monday, September 25, Jason Wheeler, 30, was being moved to the security housing unit for violating facility rules.
After officers searched him, Wheeler punched one of them in the face.
The officer called for assistance and Wheeler was restrained.
The officer was treated and has returned to work.
Wheeler will be arraigned in the Town of Union court.
Wheeler is incarcerated on burglary, arson, and violating probation.
