Inmate at Broome County Sheriff's Correctional Facility Charged With Felony Assault

(WBNG Binghamton) According to a news release from the Broome County Sheriff's Corrections Division, an inmate at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional facility has been arrested and charged with one count of assault in the 2nd degree a class D Felony.

According to the news release:

Louis Acevedo, age 38, is incarcerated as a fugitive from justice from Florida. On October 9, Acevedo, who was double bunked, allegedly attacked his cell mate and repeatedly stabbed him in the facial area with a pencil.

This occurred during the midnight shift when the facility was locked down for the night. The officer working the unit heard a commotion and responded to the situation and terminated the attack. The victim received puncture wounds around his right eye that required medical attention.
