"Interactive" Reading for Kids

September 9, 2010 Updated Sep 9, 2010 at 12:53 PM EST

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The circus came to town today, to get more kids reading.

Official "Ambassadors of Laughter" from Ringling Brothers were at the Discovery Center today. They read to about thirty 3 and 4 year-old pre-school students today.

The clowns had the kids laughing and engaged in the story, and that's what they say is the point of meeting with kids -- to show them how just by reading, it opens your mind up to so much more.

"By doing this program, we like to get kids all excited about reading, and being excited about reading, and we show how reading can lead to doing things...like putting on a circus magic show!!" said Dave Gregg with Ringling Brothers.

You can catch the ambassadors of laughter at 6:00pm. They'll be reading to kids at the Broome County Library on Court Street in Binghamton.

The circus "Illuscination" show comes to the Arena September 30th.
