Franklin Twp., PA (WBNG Binghamton) - The body of a 49-year-old Towanda woman is found in the water at the popular swimming hole.
It was Thursday afternoon in Franklin Township.
Pennsylvania State Police consider the case a suspicious death.
Action News reporter Natalie Jenereski has more information on how the investigation is taking shape.
There are multiple reasons the death of 49-year-old Patricia Hoagland is being considered suspicious.
First off, her body was found in a remote area of Lamoka swimming hole, about 10 miles back a dirt road.
State Police did not find a car in the area to indicate she had driven there.
No missing person reports had been filed either.
Pennsylvania Troopers can confirm there were no visible wounds on Hoagland's body.. no gunshot or stab wounds.
But foul play and the use of illegal substances are not being ruled out.
Troopers do say they have about 75 leads, including family members, forest rangers and passersby.
"One way or the other we're going to have this wrapped up pretty soon. There's a lot of pieces starting to fall together real fast now, so I'm real hopeful real soon we've have a resolution," said Al Ogden, Criminal Supervisor for PA State Police in Towanda.
Criminal investigators were conducting interviews earlier today.
I was in the lobby of the state police barracks when a group of 3 people sat down next to me.
They say they were driving down that dirt road when they saw this woman.
She was convulsing and they stopped to help her.
But, they say she began yelling and swearing at them to leave her alone, and that she didn't need help.
State Police have not commented on their statements.
Hoagland's body is now undergoing an autopsy at the Lehigh Medical Center in Allentown.
