Ithaca man sentenced for tax fraud

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An Ithaca man is sentenced to four years probation for filing a false tax return for his restaurant.

Wei Yee Cheng, 43, left $164,545 of cash income off the Kyushu Japanese Restaurant's tax return for 2007, according to court records.

Cheng pleaded guilty to fraud in January, and now has to complete 100 hours of community service in addition to his probation.

He also owes the IRS $223,427 in restitution.

The restitution is a total for tax losses from 2006 to 2010.
