Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Johnson City Board of Education adopted a $48.9 million dollar budget at its board meeting on Tuesday night.

The budget is supported by a 3.05% tax levy increase, which is the maximum allowable under the formula established by the New York state tax cap legislation.

The budget plan does not call for any reductions in school programs.

According to school officials, the Board took a very conservative and long-term approach as they reviewed the overall budget. Multi-year budget projections were studied to better understand how the decisions made this year will affect programs and revenue in the future.

The proposed budget will be presented to voters on May 20.
