Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Joint Landowners Coalition of New York said they are happy the Department of Environmental Conservation rejected a request for an independent health study.

President of JLCNY Dan Fitzsimmons said the state is more than ready to begin natural gas development. and that a special interest heath study would only push that development back,

He also said he doesn't believe an independent health study would be factually correct.

"You get different people that come in and they look at that and you get all these stories, rumors that are out there," said Fitzsimmons. "A lot of these studies that we are seeing are so bias one way or another. Having the state do this, we do trust the DEC, that they will do a good job."

Fitzsimmons said natural gas development will bring a necessary economic boost and create thousands of jobs in New York.
