Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Johnson City man continued his own personal tradition on July 4, as a thank you to those who fight for our country.

Dan Sabath has put flags on the side of Deyo Hill Road every year since 2006. Before that, he put them out near his home in Binghamton for more than two decades.

"I used to do it the whole block down all the way down to the corner, but now it's just a handful of them that I got." said Sabath. "I gave a lot of flags over to the neighbors. Some of the neighbors put them out, and that's it."

When it gets dark Friday night, Sabath will pull the flags from the ground and store them, but only until next year.
