Johnson City welcomes back Field Days celebration

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The 47th annual Johnson City Field Days returns for Labor Day weekend this year. Organizers have been at the park for nearly a week preparing for the festivities.

The fair kicked off at 6 p.m. Friday at Northside Park on Harry L. Drive. Organizers have been at the park as early as Sunday preparing for the festivities.

Organizers said there is a lot of time and thought behind the layout of the Field Days, which can be like a huge jigsaw puzzle.

“We lay it out and I know how much space I got along each fence line, and we just start creating a puzzle out of it and hope we can fit it all together when the day comes,” said head of field set-up Charles Snedaker.

The Field Days runs through Monday evening. The gates open at noon throughout the weekend.

Fireworks will be Monday at 9:30 p.m.

Admission is free. Proceeds from the celebration will benefit the many local non-profits that participate in the field days.
