(WBNG Binghamton) A jury is seated in Tompkins County for the trial of a man accused of shooting and severely wounding a police officer.
Twelve jurors and two alternates will hear the case against 23-year-old Jamel Booker.
Last October, Ithaca Police say two officers stopped a car on Chestnut Street that was reported stolen.
During a foot chase that followed, police say the driver shot Officer Anthony Augustine and continued running.
The bullet struck Augustine's chest just outside his bullet proof vest.
Police later arrested Booker, who will stand trial for attempted murder and aggravated assault, among other charges.
Augustine suffered a collapsed lung and minor stroke.
He continues to recover.
