Binghamton (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Zoo became a spooky playground Saturday for this year's Shake, Rattle, and Roll Halloween Party.
Children under the age of 10 made their ways through the museum, making crafts and playing interactive games.
"We always put in the educational component with playing so the kids don't even know that they're learning," said Cheryl Dutko, Director of Visitor Services at the zoo. "So every craft activity has an educational component."
They learned about different animals and discovered experiments they could do at home.
With a parade of costumes from spider man to pirates, kids could go trick-or-treating at each exhibit.
Dutko said the community is to thank for making the event what it was.
"Community has been wonderful in donating snacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and stickers and coloring books and we appreciate it and we try to make it fun for the kids," said Dutko.
The zoo also hosts a scarier Boo at the Zoo for older kids every year.
The zoo plans to hold a celebration for the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday from 6-8:30 on Friday.
