Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An after school program for at risk youth received a generous donation and kids are able to play music again.

The George F. Johnson Dream Center received a donation of various percussion instruments, from the Johnson City Rotary Club.

This donation helps restore the previously lost or stolen instruments from the program.

The Executive Director of the Binghamton Philharmonic Joel Smales, volunteered to teach the children how to play the new instruments.

The children received everything from maracas to bongos and this is not the first time the Johnson City Rotary club donated to the program.

The rotary club also donated 15 basketball jerseys to the program back in December.

"This is good for the entire Village of Johnson City, not just the Rotary, not just the Dream Center, not just the Philharmonic, but the Village as well," said Secretary of Johnson City Rotary Club, Ron Heebner.
