Candor, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Tioga County Landowners Group seeks to educate themselves and the public on natural gas drilling.

Tonight, the group hosted an educational workshop at Candor High School.

Geologist Don Zaengle gave a presentation about the area's geology.

He showed just how much oil and gas has already been drilled in New York state, and how much more is expected to be available.

"Most of the historic production has been out of the Modena Sandstones. A lot of these are oil fields designated here in green, and some large gas fields. Currently they're producing 5 to 10 billion cubic feet of gas per year," the geologist explained.

The Tioga County Landowners Group is a collection of property owners who are joining their land together to lease it for drilling.
