Village elections: Leary elected to Waverly mayor's seat

(WBNG Binghamton) A former Mayor of Waverly is poised take the helm again after Tuesday's village elections in Tioga County.

Mayor-elect Dan Leary beat out former Tioga County Legislator Marty Borko and Mark Bakley as a write in, bringing in 218 votes.

Races for village trustee were uncontested with Jerry Sinsabaugh, Christopher Brewster and Michael Steck all gaining seats.

Incumbent Village Justice Richard Koons was also elected to serve out another term, beating out write in contestant Dana Parkhurst.

That was one of two contested races in Tioga County.

The other in the Village of Owego where Eric Yetter of the Rebuild Owego Party was running against Citizens Party candidate James Legursky.

Yetter beat out Legursky for the second-ward seat.

Karl Jantz and Ann Lockwood ran unopposed for the first and third-ward trustee seats, respectively.
