Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One New York legislature candidate is hoping that a newly redrawn district means a newly voted representative.

Republican Julie Lewis voted at the Vestal Fire Company...making it no secret what box she checked for the 123rd State Assembly District.

Lewis says she's relieved for the campaign to be over and fought hard for small businesses and lower taxes.

The substitute teacher turned politician says she first struggled with the decision to official run for office.

"I'm glad that I've done it, I think that whether I win or lose it would be something I regretted later if I had not done it," said Lewis.

Lewis saio she will be spending some time at the Park Diner and then will watch the results tonight at the Holiday Inn Arena.
