Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Local celebrities stepped out of their element and behind a bar to test their mixology skills.

The annual STAP Rock Star Celebrity Bartending Bash raised awareness and money for STAP, or the Southern Tier Aids Program.

Action News anchor Candace Chapman served up some drinks to help out. She was busy -- a big crowd packed Remlik's restaurant for the event.

The idea for the bartending bash started when STAP leaders found out how quickly drink tips can add up.

"We were talking to some bartenders and we asked them what kind of money that added up to," STAP Executive Director John Barry said. "They started to tell us the figures, and we were impressed, so we decided to go with it. Last year we actually raised $17,000, and that was just the tips."

Drag queens and a DJ provided entertainment.

STAP leaders say they are already looking forward to their next event, which is the Mud Gauntlet on April 13, 2014. It's a muddy obstacle race.
