Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local farm is the first in Broome County to hit the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail.

Dutch Hill Creamery in Chenango Forks is now the 12th member of the trail.

The Creamery had been working on getting their permit to distribute for three years.

They got that permit a week and a half ago.

"We did a lot of research and we've been to a lot of different places," said Brian Aukema of Dutch Hill Creamery. "From Vermont, to northern New York, to Wisconsin, we looked at different places. It's extremely exciting to be the first one. We are hoping to forward to providing a great quality product to the community."

The farm has 60 cows while selling cream line milk and cheese curds.

They will be working on making different flavors of their cheese curd for the future.

Aukema says the creamery was planning on processing just a few times their first week, but ended up processing five times.
