Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Local nurses got a big thank you Thursday.

The Double Tree by Hilton Binghamton hosted the 31st Annual Nurses' Day breakfast.

The theme this year is "Nurses: Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care."

Nurses in Broome and Tioga counties were honored and special awards were handed out.

"It is a true honor. I'm very blessed to be a nurse. I feel very fortunate to be a nurse. I've had wonderful patients. I'm so glad I chose to be a nurse. If I had to do it all over again. I'd still choose to be a nurse," said Susan Lent, the leadership award recipient.

Two $15,000 college scholarships were given out to students who are entering the nursing field or advancing their educating in nursing.

The event was put on by the New York State Nurses Association District 5, which includes all nurses in Broome and Tioga counties.
