Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A popular local pizza place has closed.

Freschott Pizza on Main Street in Johnson City has been open for more than a decade.

They closed their doors for the last time on Friday.

Freschott's manager said the store just cost too much to keep going.

"Sales weren't as good as we'd hope they'd be," said Vinny Guarnera, manager of Freschott.

Guarnera said Freschott had great food and a great atmosphere.

He's been working at the pizza place for about three years and calls Freschott a second home.

Guarnera said he isn't sure what's next for him now that his shop is closed.

Customers say they're sad to see it go.
