(WBNG Binghamton) Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky Aircraft place their bid to build a new fleet of Marine One Mission helicopters that carry the President.

It could bring work on the helicopter replacement program to Lockheed in Owego.

The Defense Department canceled Lockheed's VH-71 contract in 2009.

When the Navy revived the program, Sikorsky and Lockheed teamed up.

Sikorsky is the prime contractor and Lockheed will supply the electronics.

The deadline to submit bids is Thursday.
