Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The president and CEO of Lourdes Hospital is stepping down after five years of holding the position, according to a hospital spokesperson.

David J. Patak, who has held the position since 2009, plans to relocate to Atlanta, GA to be closer to family.

“I will greatly miss this community, but we will be back often as both my wife and I will still have family in this area,” said Patak.

During his time at Lourdes, Patak oversaw the opening of the Lourdes Ambulatory Care Center, the Lourdes Vestal site and the near-completion of the hospital's parking ramp.

Patak is also credited with guiding the hospital through the devastating flooding of 2011.

Patak plans to step down on Nov. 1.

The hospital's board of directors plan to work with Ascension Health on a transition plan.
