Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A hospital promotes its new look and a local charitable family honors one of their own. This all can be found in the Emergency Department of Lourdes Hospital.
Lourdes hospital recently completed a four year, $70 million renovation project.
That includes modernizing emergency rooms and the technology physicians use.
Lourdes wanted to raise $6 million of the total project cost and the Ahearn Foundation's $350,000 donation put them over their goal.
The Ahearn Foundation donated the money to have the ER waiting room in honor of Mary Beth Cahill, an Ahearn family member.
"We wanted to do something special for Mary Beth and this is where the gifting came to be, where else but here, where she was treated for part of her time," said Bob Ahearn, Chairman of the Ahearn Foundation.
The renovation project was all part of the Mission 2012 Campaign which doubled the size of the emergency room at Lourdes Hospital.
