Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A small group of professors at Broome Community College outlined their plan for a friendly competition to raise money for scholarships.

Five professors from different departments will be asking for donations for a Polar Bear Dip.

They are asking for $10 to make the initial plunge and an additional $1 for every five seconds they can withstand the cold.

The money raised will go toward three funds: The Lee Skorko Scholarship, named for a recently decease B.C.C. professor, the Badge of Honor Scholarship for the Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Program and Toys for Tots.

Rey Wojdat, Chairman for the college's Hospitality Department, said, "We have excellent programs here, but there are times that we want to show that we can have fun, too. So we're mixing the two together."

"We're willing to go to a few extremes to help our students out," Wojdat said. "So something creative, different to show the students that involvement matters and that we care enough to do this kind of thing."

You can watch the professors take the plunge in the BCC campus quad at 11 a.m., Feb. 14.
