Making a splash to help Long Island school
Windsor, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students in Windsor make a splash to raise money for a Long Island school damaged in Hurricane Sandy. C.R. Weeks Elementary is raising money for Oceanside Elementary in Oceanside, NY. Students brought in loose change to donate to the school to help rebuild its library. The school on Long Island lost most of the books when Sandy hit the area. "It's a great way for our community to help out another school especially the library where we love for children to read. We want kids to be able to come to school and read books and be able to take those books home to read," said Jennifer Payne, a fifth grade teacher at the school. Students in Windsor enjoyed a variety of activities such as beach volleyball, arts and crafts, face painting, zumba and yoga. There is a beach dance party scheduled for after-school and a cookout sponored by the PTA.
