Man Arrested in Robbery, Bomb Scare

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton man is now in Broome County Jail after Friday's robbery of a local jewelry store and bomb scare.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Ty A. Tumminia, 20, displayed what appeared to be an explosive device after walking into Ruby and Son Jewelers in the Town of Chenango. He ordered employees to empty a display case. The device was discovered a short distance from the scene and handled with the assistance of the Endicott Police Bomb Squad. It was discovered to be inert.

Tumminia was arrested Monday in the Town of Dickinson. He is charged with robbery in the first degree, a felony, and placing a false bomb in the first degree, a felony.
