Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton man is charged with four felonies after allegedly stabbing his wife Sunday.
Esteban Valdes, 39, of Binghamton, is in Broome County Jail without bail, according to the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
He is charged with felony aggravated criminal contempt, felony tampering with physical evidence, felony second-degree assault and felony grand larceny in the fourth degree.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded after 9 p.m. Sunday to an apartment at 17 Market St. for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman with minor injuries from a knife.
Valdes was found by Johnson City Police a short distance away and was identified as the victim's husband. The Sheriff's Office says she had an order of protection against him. Authorities say after the assault, Valdes also stole her purse, which contained her credit cards.
Valdes was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Dickinson Court. He was sent to the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility without bail.
The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.
