Cherry Valley, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Deputies there say a man was killed while logging in the woods near his home.

Responders were called to Van Derwerker Road in Cherry Valley around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

They had to venture more than a quarter mile into the woods to find 66-year-old Robert Lusk, who was reportedly pinned under a maple tree.

Investigators said the tree, which had been cut earlier, struck Lusk from behind as he was cutting up a log.

Lusk was pronounced dead at the scene from massive internal injuries.
