Village of Sherburne, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Deputies arrested a Sherburne man they said had heroin and cash in the presence of children.

At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dustin J. Norris, 31, after conducting a search warrant in a vehicle parked at the Big M grocery store in Sherburne, as well conducting a “no knock” search warrant at his residence on South Main Street.

Deputies said they found the heroin in close proximity to two young children in the car.

At Norris’ residence, investigators found several needles, packaging material and paraphernalia.

The arrest comes during a lengthy investigation into heroin sales throughout the county.

Deputies charged Norris with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Chenango County jail on $50,000 cash bail.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.
