Man arrested for killing cats

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Cornell police arrest a man in an animal cruelty case.

Mitchell M. Medina, 22, currently homeless, is charged with three felony counts of aggravated cruelty of animals.

On the morning of Aug. 5, Cornell University Police were called by an area maintenance worker who found three dead cats with ropes around their necks in Cascadilla gorge.

After an investigation by Cornell University Police with help from the Tompkins County District Attorney's Office, the SPCA and Ithaca Police Department, Medina was arrested on Sep. 23.

He was arrested at the Tompkins County Public Safety Building where he is currently being held on unrelated charges.

Medina is scheduled to to appear in Ithaca City Court on Oct. 4.
