Cortland, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A man arrested for disorderly conduct kicked the rear door window of the patrol vehicle taking him to the Cortland County Sheriff's Department.

An officer arrested Scott A. Fairweather, 30, of Cortland, Saturday morning after stopping two people walking on Weaver Road in the town of Cortlandville.

While the officer was trying to identify them, Fairweather, who police say was intoxicated, began shouting obscenities.

Police say the officer tried to calm the man but he only got more worked up.

The officer then arrested Fairweather.

On the way to the sheriff's department, Fairweather kicked the rear view window of the patrol vehicle, breaking the window frame.

Fairweather is charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

The second person walking with Fairweather did not interfere and was not charged.
