Man could face 12 years for selling heroin

Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Walton man was arrested following an investigation into the sale of heroin.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested Gerard Johnson, 31, Thursday afternoon.

Deputies said he is accused of selling heroin in June 2014.

Johnson had been previously arrested in June 2013 on a warrant for three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, class B felonies, according to deputies.

Deputies said Johnson went to court in September 2013 following the arrest, and was convicted on criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was sentenced to eight years of probation.

As a potential second felony drug offender, Johnson now faces up to 12 years in state prison, if convicted.

Johnson was taken to the Delaware County Jail and held without bail.

He was charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
