Man held at gunpoint, car stolen

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Police in Tompkins County are investigating an armed robbery after a man was held at gunpoint in his own car Friday morning.

Just before 2 a.m., deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office were called to to South Applegate Road regarding a victim who reported his vehicle was just stolen.

Deputies determined the crime occurred in the 200 block of
West State Street in Ithaca.

The Ithaca Police Department was called to investigate.

The man told police he was stopped his vehicle in a parking lot after getting lost, according to Ithaca Police. A female approached his car, pointed a handgun at him and ordered him to move to the passenger seat.

The female took the driver's seat and another male then got into the back of the car.

The victim reported that the male in the rear seat pressed a handgun to the back of the head as the female drove the three of them toward Elmira.

The female stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road on South Applegate Road and ordered the victim to exit the vehicle, then drove off towards Elmira.

The female suspect is described as a black female, thin build, about 20 years old, with an overbite and protruding gums, according to police. She was last seen wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, a black headband and grey sweatpants with white lettering down the side.

The victim was unable to provide a description of the male suspect in the rear seat.

Police are looking for the vehicle, a blue 2005 Volvo V70 SUV with New York registration, GKZ3186.
