Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Police arrested a man accused of forcing a cashier inside a cooler after robbing a convenience store.

Endicott police said Anthony Gutek, 36, robbed the Runway Convenience Store on East Main Street.

Gutek is accused of threatening the clerk with an "edged object" and demanding money from the register. He then placed the clerk inside a cooler before fleeing.

Gutek was wearing a mask when he entered the store, police said.

An off-duty state trooper saw the man running and called 911.

Endicott police stopped Gutek's vehicle on Wallace Street and took him into custody. Police recovered the money, weapon and mask.

Gutek is being held in lockup awaiting arraignment in Endicott Village Court.
