Man swallows suspected drugs, taken to hospital during raid

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A suspect in a drug raid is taken to the hospital after swallowing what investigators believe were drugs when approached by investigators.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at 31 Baxter St. There, they found Jerrell M. Thompson.

According to investigators, Thompson swallowed a chunky substance suspected to be crack-cocaine and was taken to the hospital. They also seized 30 envelopes of what was believed to be heroin and $1,158 in cash.

Thompson is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony; and parole violation.

He was arraigned in the city of Binghamton Court and taken to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
