Many Binghamton residents left without power

Update: Power has been restored to all residents.

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) With the sweeping rain showers Monday evening came power outages by the hundreds in Binghamton.

According to NYSEG spokesman Clay Ellis, nearly 1,700 customers lost power at 7:18 p.m. According to reports from those in the affected areas, many of the outages impacted Binghamton's north and west sides.

There were also reported outages to traffic lights on Binghamton's west side, prompting police to monitor traffic. According to emergency traffic reports, traffic lights were back online around 9:30 p.m.

Service was restored to 474 customers by 8:26 p.m., according to Ellis, with the remainder of service to be restored before 11 p.m.

Ellis said NYSEG doesn't know what caused the outages at this time.
