Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A pharmacy school, new dormitories and buildings and additional studies highlight Binghamton University's road map for the next four years.

Following more than eight months of planning, BU President Dr. Harvey Stenger unveiled the college's Road Map 2013, a strategic plan that's intended to guide the university to becoming a premier public university of the 21st century.

There are five strategic priorities within the plan, such as enhancing graduate research and programs, making student diversity and inclusiveness a priority and to enhance the university's impact in the community and beyond.

Topping the list of proposals is a new college or school of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy.

The road map was developed by more than 400 volunteers.

"The basic components of what we're moving forward were generated in a collaborative, open process," Stenger said.

More than 40 proposals will move forward immediately.

The Road Map coincides with the university's SUNY 2020 plan, which also includes hiring 150 new faculty members.
