Albany, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds marched up the State Capitol steps in Albany to loudly voice their support for natural gas development in New York.
The goal -- to put pressure on Governor Andrew Cuomo and other New York lawmakers to say "yes" to developing New York's shale reserves.
Ralliers included local politicians, farmers, students, property owners and business owners.
"Let's not scare it away. Let's embrace an opportunity to be proud that we have this opportunity," said Chriss Musser, project manager at Vestal Asphalt.
Rally organizers say they have waited long enough, and that now is the time to welcome natural gas development and thousands of jobs it could create.
The Department of Environmental Conservation is having a health assessment done before it takes any further steps on permitting regulations.
