Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan on Wednesday is set to layout plans for his final year in office, and provide a roadmap for his successor.
Ryan says Wednesday's State of the City address will focus on plans to modernize City Hall to include more information technology and information services.
He says his speech will urge the next mayor to continue on the progressive path with an active government.
"We have been the model of public participation and getting more people motivated about what happens to the community," Ryan said. "Just the relationships we've created with so many great stakeholders in the community has been so satisfying. So it is a bittersweet moment."
Ryan served two terms as mayor.
The State of the City address takes place at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, in Council Chambers. Doors open to the public at 5 p.m.
