Mayor Ryan and City Council to Hold Third Budget Development Session

September 3, 2010 Updated Sep 3, 2010 at 9:05 AM EST

Mayor Matt Ryan and City Council members will hold their third session on developing the 2011 Budget this coming Tuesday, September 7th, immediately following the regularly scheduled Work Session, which begins at 6:00pm and is expected to wrap up between 7:30—8:00pm.

The Budget Development Session will cover priorities for the 2011 Budget, and is part of the City’s collaborative approach to the 2011 budget process, which was announced in August. Building on a tradition started last year, the approach includes two parts—closer consultation between the Mayor and Council prior to submission of the Executive Budget, and an extended deadline for submitting the Executive Budget.

The consultation will enable Mayor Ryan and City Council members to better coordinate their respective priorities, and the new deadline will allow for more accurate projections of 2011 expenses and revenues, including pension contributions and sales tax revenues.

The Budget Development Session and the Work Session both are open to the public and will take place in the City Council Work Room, which is located in the City Clerk’s Office on City Hall’s 1st Floor.
