Cortland, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Cortland Police and the Cortland Fire Department responded to 34 Union Street on May 22 at approximately 7:00 PM for a possible house fire.
When the fire department responded, smoke was coming from a second floor window. Firefighters went into the home and could smell ammonia as they walked upstairs to Apartment #2.
When crews went in, they found ingredidents and equipment used to make methamphetamine.
Firefighters also found a live meth cook inside the bedroom closet.
The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response team was contacted and responded to help with the invsetigation.
After a search warrant was obtained, more ingredients used to make meth were found in the apartment.
Matthew Stone, 38, of Parks Road, Cortland, Samantha Webster, 22, of Little York and Joshua Marshall, 30, of 34 Union Street, were arrested.
All are charged with one count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.
Cortland Police say additional charges are pending.
