Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) On Wednesday around 6:30 p.m., Binghamton police officers responded to the area of Ely Park Boulevard in the City of Binghamton for a report of a missing 13 year old boy with down syndrome.

Officers initiated an immediate search throughout the Legacy Bay Townhome complex but could not find the boy.

Additional police resources, comprised of K-9’s from the Binghamton Police Department and Village of Johnson City Police Department, were called in to to assist in the search.

They searched for approximately two hours.

Binghamton Police Officer Kevin Brown conducted a track with his K-9, Lilo, 2, a female Belgium Malinois, and located the boy in a creek bed of the Ely Park Golf Course.

The boy was returned unharmed and in good health to his parents.

Patrol Captain Patrick McCormack credited the Lilo for leading officers to the boy’s location and if it wasn’t for Lilo it would have taken much longer to locate the boy.
